DIY Floral Box & Chocolate Hearts

Hi Creators! Are you looking for quick and easy Mother's day gifts? Gifts you can personalize and do yourself? Well, you've come to the right place. Here are two simple heart felt gifts for that special person in your life.

Mother's Day is always special, moms around the world being celebrated for their love, hard work, and strength. Although, we all know our mom's should be celebrated everyday, we solely devote this one day in May to remind ourselves that we are here because of her. So, here are some quick and easy DIY gifts for your mom on Mother's Day and/or for any other occasion or celebration!

The first gift idea is a beautiful floral box. Instead of getting her a bouquet of flowers like you would usually do, how about vamping it up by making her a personalized flower box.

Here are the things you will need to create these gifts.
  • A tin box, I bought mine from The Container Store for $7.99 size 8"x 6.75"x 3.24" h.
  • floral foam, I had some left over from a previous project, but you can purchase it from Dollar Tree or any craft store.)
  • water, in small bowl or bucket.
  • scissors
  • flowers, you can find affordable fresh-cut flowers at your local Farmers Market or you can purchase flowers from you local grocery store.
Step 1. Cut the floral foam to line the bottom of the tin box. Depending on the depth of your box you can cut the thickness of the foam to the size that will work best for you, I cut my floral foam a half inch thick.

Step 2. Take the pieces of foam and dip them in the bowl of water. Let the foam fully absorb the water and place the pieces covering the bottom of the box. Note: be sure you buy the floral foam for fresh flowers which absorbs water.

Step 3. Optional, trim the baby's breath the same height as the tin box and stick them in the foam. You can also add leaves.

Step 4. Start adding flowers, begin with large/bushy flowers first. Trim the stems to the appropriate length and insert them in the foam.  Make sure they are short enough so when you close the box with the lid it will close.

Step 5. Get creative! Add in more flowers. Trim them to the appropriate length and place them where you think looks good, I randomly scattered mine. You can find affordable flowers at your local farmers market, A bouquet of flowers ranges between $10 to $25. Definitely great deals for beautiful flowers!

Step 6. Once the tin box is full with flowers and looks to your liking, make sure the lid closes, and then you're done! Keep the floral box in a cool area till its time to gift to your mother or whomever.

The second gift idea is quick and simple customized chocolate hearts! You can put together a sweet treat for your mother!

The things you will need to create these gifts.
  • heart molds, I got mine as a gift but you can find them at any craft store or on Amazon.
  • chocolate melts, I used white chocolate melts and a dark chocolate bar.
  • optional almonds and peanuts
  • small plastic bags, I used Ziploc sandwich bags.
  • scissors
  • spoon
  • cute gift bag or box, I got mine from Daiso a $1.50 Japanese store.
Step 1. Put the chocolate melts in a microwaveable bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Be sure to check the melts every 15 seconds and stir. Depending on your microwave settings it will vary how fast it melts. Mine took a full minute.

Step 2. Stir the melted chocolate and put it in the small plastic bags. Your going to use this to pipe out the chocolate into the heart molds for better control and less mess!

Step 3. Cut the tip of one end of the bag. Make sure not to cut it too big.

Step 4. Now squeeze the melted chocolate in the heart molds one third full and tap the mold softly on the counter to fill in the air bubbles. Add in almonds or nuts. Then fill in the mold with melted chocolate all the way to the top. Tap the mold softly on the counter again to flatten and fill in air bubbles.

Step 5. Now place the filled chocolate heart molds in the freezer. After 10 minute take out the chocolates and pop them out!

Step 6. Put the chocolate hearts in a cute gift bag or box and you're done!
