DIY Halloween Headbands

Creators! Halloween is coming! Today I have simple DIY Halloween Headbands inspired by Pinterest for all of you. No need to buy an expensive $50+ Halloween costume this year which you’d probably only wear once. Here are four easy headband ideas for Halloween.

The first headband is Bejeweled Cat Ears (from mesewcrazy.com) You will need black felt, pink fur, gems, hot glue gun, needle & thread, scissors, and a headband.

Instructions:
Step 1: Cut out two pieces of black felt and two pieces of pink fur in the shape of cat ears. You can save the templates here:

Step 2: Take the felt and wrap it around the headband. Make sure to position the felt slightly to the side to make them look like ears. Match up the tips of the piece of felt and hot glue it in place.

Step 3: While holding the felt in place sew the felt to the headband following the curve of the headband. Trim off the excess thread and hot glue the rest of felt ear together.

Step 4: Time to get creative! You can use any color gems. Hot glue the gems onto the felt ears. You can cover the whole ear like I did or you can create your own design.

Step 5: Flip the headband over. Now, hot glue the two pieces of pink fur that you cut out earlier onto the back of the felt ears. When the glue is dry you’re all done!

The second headband idea is Bat Wings (from liagriffith.com)! You will need regular or glittery black felt, hot glue gun, needle & thread, scissors, and a headband.

Instructions:
Step 1: First cut the felt like an upside down Christmas tree triangle shape. Also, cut out a small rectangle piece of felt. I have the templates here so you can save and print out:

Step 2: Take the larger piece of felt and start from the narrow end while folding it one inch up then down till you reach the top. Pinch the center together to hold its shape.

Step 3: Now, sew the center of the felt together where you pinched. Trim off the excess thread.

Step 4: Take the small rectangular piece of felt and wrap it around the center of the larger piece. Trim off the excess felt and sew the pieces together.

Step 5: Hot glue the bat wing felt to the headband and you’re done! You can position the felt wherever you’d like, I placed mine in the center.

The last two headband ideas are made very similar (from cupcakesclothes.com). I’ll be showing you how to make the Deer Antlers in depth. The Unicorn Horn headband is made with the same materials but instead of making antlers you will need to make a horn. You will need white lace, pink felt, paper, tape, needle & thread, a headband, scissors, hot glue gun, and artificial flowers.

Instructions:
Step 1: First, cut out four different size squares with the paper. You can save the template here with the sizes I used:

Step 2: Roll up the largest piece of paper into a tube and tape it. Roll the other three pieces of paper into a cone shape and tape them in place.

Step 3: Now trim and tape all the pieces together to look like antlers. You will need to make two antlers so repeat these steps again to create another antler.

Step 4: You can hot glue the pink felt to the paper antlers to cover the tape. I could of skipped this step because I decided to cover the antlers with gold glitter. If you plan on covering the antlers with glitter you don’t need to hot glue the felt on because the glitter will stick better on the paper. If you are not using glitter you can hot glue the felt on or you can paint the antlers to cover up the tape.

Step 5: Next, you will need to make the ears. This process is exactly like the first headband we made for the cat ears. Cut out two pieces of pink felt, the template can be saved below. You will also need to cut two 7 inch pieces of white lace.

Step 6: The white lace will be a border for the felt ear. Fold the lace to fit one half of the felt. Hot glue the lace at the fold. Then fold the felt up and trim off the excess lace.

Step 7: Hot glue the lace to the felt. Determine where you’d like to position the ears and antlers on the headband.

Step 8: Take the felt and wrap it around the headband. Make sure to position the felt slightly to the side to make them look like ears. Match up the tips of the piece of felt and hot glue it in place.

Step 9: Now hold the felt in place and sew the felt to the headband following the shape of the headband. Trim off the excess thread and hot glue the rest of felt ear together. Hot glue the antlers onto the headband. (If you are making the Unicorn headband, make a horn (cone shape) out of paper and glue the horn in the center of the headband.)

Step 10: Time to get creative! Now, you can glue on artificial flowers around the headband. I decided to cover the antlers with gold glitter to make them stand out more, didn't get to film it. I used fabric glue on the antlers that were covered with felt and sprinkled on the gold glitter and left it to dry over night.
